After nearly a millennium on Earth, Layla’s settled down in a boring life in Palm Springs, until a smoking-hot hunter comes to arrest her for murder. But Layla knows the rules—she'd never kill someone and incite the wrath of The Powers That Be. Read an Excerpt He edged nearer the counter. I, or maybe my succubus, decided on a whim I would not be intimidated by his power. I wasn’t sure where my sudden courage came from. He had to have sensed my succubus signature. We weren’t a violent race when we controlled our urges. I’m Queen of Control over here. I’m sure he knows I won’t hurt him. Right? But why is he here? Something must be wrong. With every step he took closer, I had a better look at him. His dark hair was in slight disarray and his crystal blue eyes scoured my face. He towered over me in every sense of the word. My stomach dipped. He and Jolene should go back-to-back so I can get an accurate measure of his height. I shook away my thoughts of him. Given his disapproving glare, he came here on a mission. Greek god or not, he was still a hunter, and I-- I was a product of evil, aka something he hunts. “Succubus,” he growled. One little word filled with eons of unabashed hatred. It vibrated through me. All hopes of him wanting a new bathroom paint color vanished. No, this visit wouldn’t be pleasant, not at all. Perhaps I could seduce him. Hell, he could do me right on the floor of aisle nine next to the light fixtures, if it kept him from killing me. I bit my lip. Hunters weren’t typically susceptible to succubi charms. A failed attempt of Aphrodisia could earn me more problems. I released a breath. Some buried-deep, natural instinct rolled through me again, and I decided to stand my ground. I stood straighter and barked back, “Hunter.” About the Author: J.M. Jinks was born and raised in Southern California. She lives with her husband, two dogs, and two cats in her hometown. With a joint history packed with dishonesty, blackmail—and a juicy, torrid love affair—the pair didn’t expect their paths would cross again. Read an Excerpt: Delmar’s voice was sad and serious. “I come to ask the three of you for your help. I have nowhere else to turn. The courts won’t help me. The legal system is useless,” his words tumbled out. “You see, for it was I, who started my problem in the first place, and well the courts won’t even hear my case,” he sighed heavily. Glenda sighed. “This sounds serious if you can’t use your money to persuade the courts.” “It is serious,” Delmar assured them. “Let me go back to the beginning. Perhaps you were aware of my case in court almost a year ago, concerning the twin sons, that Tiara Blake, had?” “Yes, of course, it was all over the news,” Consuelo stated, in an excited Spanish accent. “Yeah, I heard all about it too,” Nona said glumly. “The DNA found you were not the father and those tests are normally 100% accurate.” “Yes, they are supposed to be. But there are ways around them,” Delmar paused. “You see a root worker, a spell caster. She assured me, that she could cast a spell that would exclude me as the father of the twins.” Glenda interrupted. “Yes, but everyone knows that DNA is 100 percent foolproof and it doesn't lie. No spellcaster or root worker can mess with biological DNA.” “Glenda is right,” Nona stated. “DNA tests are considered infallible – they are the gold standard in court.” About the Author: J.A. A girl can only take so much, and he's her heart's desire. She’s not afraid to give as good as she gets and she wants him to be her teacher in all things carnal. Read an Excerpt Copyright ©2018 Megan Slayer "I have the package," Kam said. "Preparing to leave." She frowned. The package. She didn't have the honor of being referred to by her name. Gaining his attention wasn't going to be easy. "I'm ready." Kam nodded. "This way, Ms. Dunn." "Anissa." He'd used her last name. Dang it. She'd pleaded with him so many times to call her by her first name. Ms. Dunn was her mother. She was just Anissa. "Ms. Dunn." Kam escorted her to the front porch, then down the steps. He opened the passenger door of the limo. "After you." "Thanks." She couldn't leave the house without her trusty bodyguard, Kam. She settled on the seat and folded her hands on her lap. Kam would do anything to protect her, and she trusted him, but she was twenty-one and her father needed to put some faith in her. He'd sheltered her from everything. She didn't resent him for trying -- when she turned twenty-five, she'd come into a hefty sum of cash via the trust her mother had left her, but still. She'd gone to an all-girls college, a private all-girls high school and never spent more than a few hours on her own. She crossed her legs, and her skirt rode high on her leg. Did Kam notice? Did he care? She swept her gaze over him as he sat beside her. Strong and silent. He wore his clothes like a second skin, could eviscerate anyone who tried to get too close, but Kam said so little. Half the time she had no idea if he listened to her. Knowing him, he tuned her out. "Kam?" She shifted in her seat to face him. Her skirt rode higher. He didn't pay her any attention, which rankled her. "Kameron." "Ms. Dunn." He seemed to stare straight ahead. She whipped out her phone. She couldn't go through with the date. Not now. She sent a text to the driver, requesting he stay in the driveway. She'd sent the itinerary to the security team but saw no point in leaving the house. Kam wasn't paying attention to her -- not in the way she wanted. He didn't seem to care. She sighed. According to the magazines she'd bought, her college roommate and the dirty movies she'd watched in the middle of the night, she had to be aggressive and demand what she wanted. Sure... she could be aggressive. She could demand his attention. But she wasn't sure how. Anissa switched seats to face Kam. The car rolled to a stop, most likely in front of the house. She parted her legs and leaned back. "Kam." If he looked at her, she couldn't tell. "Ms. Dunn?" Kam tensed, and the muscle in his jaw twitched. "Are you okay?" Nope. He hadn't noticed her lousy attempts to entice him. "I'm fine," she mumbled. What a liar..."I'd like to talk to you." His eyes flashed, then he captured her mouth in a kiss. Electricity shot from her head to her toes. She pressed against him. She’d never been kissed so deeply. Sparks centered in her pussy. He threaded his fingers into her hair and held her tight without crushing her. When he broke the connection, her knees quaked. She sagged into him. “Damn.” He smiled. “Better than I thought.” She wanted to say something snappy, but the words weren’t there. Instead, she settled for honesty. “For me, too.” She draped her arms around his neck. She didn’t want to leave the dance floor or for the night to end. She could almost hear Kelly encouraging her to leave with him and live a little. He hadn’t asked her to go home with him, but the better part of her wanted that to happen. “I can’t offer you forever, but I want to give you tonight,” he said. He kissed her again then cupped her jaw in both hands. “Very much so.” “Who needs forever when one night can be everything?” About the Author: Megan Slayer, aka Wendi Zwaduk, is a multi-published, award-winning author of more than one-hundred short stories and novels. Read an Excerpt ©Megan Slayer, 2018, All Rights Reserved “Try it.” Zelus nodded. “It’s not hard stuff. Just wine from Olympus.” Oh Jesus. He’d heard this line of bullshit before. His friends wanted to sell their story about Olympus, but he wasn’t buying. He refused to drink. “If I down that, I might believe you and there’s no way that’s happening.” Kay shrugged. “It’ll make you feel better.” “To know you’re lying or to get drunk?” Charlie asked. “Olympus, Gods, statues … it’s not right to dick with people.” Bia took a swig. “I get it.” She stayed beside him. “You think things are one way, then they go sideways. We keep trying to convince you to believe us, but we don’t show you what’s real.” She rested her head on his shoulder. “You’re right to be concerned.” “Yeah.” He didn’t understand, but she seemed to care. He took the flask. Maybe drinking would help. He’d forget his problems for a while. Sure, the issues would still be there, but he’d have a respite. He tipped his head back and the sweet liquid slid down his throat. The drink reminded him of apples, but with spice. Not cider, though. His mouth chilled, but the liquid warmed his soul. His head swam. “I should stop.” He downed another swig. “Really.” But he wanted more. “Then stop.” Kay took the flask. “Feel better?” “Not really.” He leaned back against the foot of the statue. If he wasn’t mistaken, her foot felt warm. Real. Not possible. This had to be a figment of his imagination or a result of the drink. His mind was playing tricks on him. But why was he so horny all the sudden? Booze never made him want to hump everything in sight. “Let’s get you home.” Zelus offered his arm. “Come on.” “No.” He shook his head and blinked. “Did you drug me?” “It’s the nectar of the gods.” Camden laughed. “Not drugs. Good, though, isn’t it?” “It’s wine.” Andy helped Zelus hoist Charlie to his feet. “The wine amplifies your heart’s desire. You’re not drunk, I promise.” He allowed them to help him to stand, but he shook his head. Life seemed to slow down. He blinked again. The horniness increased. He wriggled free from the guys. Neither could help him with his suddenly overactive libido. All six individuals were taken and none of them turned him on. “I don’t get it. There’s something wrong with me. I can’t find anyone to love me.” Why was he telling them this? He whooped, then faced the statue. “I bet I can’t even turn this statue on.” He hopped onto the base of the sculpture, standing nose to nose with the woman. “See?” He kissed her. “Think you can love me, baby? I’ll fuck you senseless, but I want to wear your clothes and have you fuck me, too. Isn’t that messed up?” He kissed the statue again. “See?” He glanced back at his friends. “She isn’t interested. No one is.” Oh well. Love, even with a statue wasn’t in his future.
